Photographer

Photographers will capture digital photographs throughout the EAST Conference. The best shots will be selected, edited and categorized.

Skills Needed:

  • Understanding of composition, rule of thirds, lighting, framing and other general photography rules.
  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or similar editing software. 
  • Ability to communicate verbally with small and large groups.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicate with team manager (or mentor) and other team members regularly prior to the Conference. 
  • Capture digital photographs of various aspects of the Conference according to the team's plan.
  • Select a broad representation of shots of the event, edit and categorize the images.
  • Deliver all edited and raw files to EAST on the final day of Conference.

Submission Instructions

To apply for a Photographer position, complete the following nomination and submission requirements and email to events@eastproject.org by December 16, 2009. Follow the steps below:

  1. Submit an application email including the following items: 
    • Position you are seeking 
    • Why you should be considered for the position 
    • Years of experience 
    • Past experience/roles you have held that would benefit you in the position 
    • Phone number with days and times you can be reached 
    • Your e-mail address 
    • School and facilitator name
    • Facilitator email address
  2. Submit a letter of application. A typed, one-page document (no bigger than 12-pt. font) telling us a little about yourself, why you should be considered for this position, explaining past experience that would help in this position, etc. Include answers to the following questions.
    • Have you had formal training in photography or do you just take photos for fun?
    • Have you had formal training in Adobe Photoshop or another photo editing program? If not, what editing experience do you have (please be specific)? 
    • Provide information on the camera you will be using at the Conference. 
      • Who the camera belongs to and what type of media it uses
      • Make, model and battery information 
      • Memory information
      • Does it have a time lapse option?
  3. Send your ten (10) best digital shots. (Submit the original un-retouched version and the same shot edited, if applicable).
    • Do not send landscape shots; they will not show your experience with live action and event photography.
    • Think about composition, rule of thirds, lighting, framing and other general photography rules.

Letter and digital photographs should be attached to your application email and submitted to events@eastproject.org by Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
